A storm, rain, or cyclone can bring wonders to share.
Colour and light, capture these for happiness.
The hundreds of shades of greens in the bush with dappled light to the stunning colour in a bunch of flowers, all delight the senses and beg to be caught forever in all their finery to share.
I lived in my father’s Toyota Hi Ace Van for 3 months when I first arrived at Kaiteriteri. When we experienced 3 days of very heavy rain, I found myself with cabin fever. My great idea was to put on my boots, raincoat and head out along the estuary for some fresh air, at the last minute I grabbed my camera just in case.
I had a brilliant time, and these are the result of my walk, and my love of what I think have a very magic appearance, raindrops.
Although Cyclone Gabrielle was a tragedy, the cloud, colour and light formations blend together into various pink beds, an idyllic trance to witness.
I anxiously awaited the arrival of the almighty Cyclone Gabrielle along with most of New Zealand. The clock ticked to 9pm and we were off, grabbing my camera and scurrying down the caravan steps, out the overly secure awnings and onto the beach to catch the light during this dark time.
The community of campers gazed admiringly at the scenes unfolding before our eyes, in anticipation of what was to come.
The constant development of the storm was drawing me in. Look away for a minute and you’ll be gazing at an entirely different landscape. These clouds hold a power over me. A magnet and metal. I couldn’t look away.
